Race in Conversation: What It Means to Say “I’m Not Racist”
Date: Friday, June 4, 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm CT
Location: Zoom link will be sent to those who register.
Facilitators: Kristina Lusk and Maxine Crump
Statements from white Americans on the topic of race often begin or end with the phrase “but I’m not racist.” Carrying good intentions and being a good person can easily lead someone to believe they cannot be a racist without committing flagrant racist acts. This Race in Conversation provides a space to unpack that notion.
All participants are asked to read the article “‘I Am Not Racist’ Is Nonsense” from Meredith Atwood on Psychology Today and watch the video “but I’m not racist?” (17 min), which will be used to start the conversation.
